Types of Psychology: Humanist, Cognitive, Psychodynamic

Certain psychologists have made an impact in history with psychological ideologies; from behaviorism tactics to classical conditioning. With all the dedication to psychology and the ethics that have been used by famous psychologists over time in the nineteenth century whose work has helped many people throughout difficult times in history.

Psychologists today who have a license in psychology have used various ways of therapy to help individuals who struggle with interpersonal encounters. There may be trauma, relationships that can be problematic or unhealthy habits; certain therapy such as cognitive psychology can be used as talking about how you may think, feel or behave to your environment or personal issues around you. Cognitive talk therapy known as CBT can be utilized in differentiated forms, using introspecting adaptive tactics such as challenging thinking patterns or gaining the consciousness to be self-sufficient in your daily life. Typically in CBT your psychologist can determine what may be the most challenging personal issue you may have, they can set goals for you to focus on. Each session may differ depending on the person, how extensive or deeply rooted your life may be and how to help you in difficult times.

When we approach certain aspects of life and indulge our time in a manner that has obtained our consciousness, subconsciousness and unconsciousness in life. In order to determine what we need from a professional point and personal input. Our day to day lives show that we need certain therapy mechanisms to use such as psychodynamic ways to explore our minds and emotions. Therapists help clients gain self- awareness around the thought of unconscious and unresolved feelings, psychoanalysis therapists help resolve face to face problems such as depression and anxiety. There are certain techniques used by psychodynamic therapists which would be ‘Dream Analysis’, this includes sorting through dreams to discover the subconscious fears that we may encounter.

We develop as we grow into young adulthood, the most efficient way is self-care and self-awareness of what we are indulging our time in. Humanistic approach in psychology would be the aspiration to grow as a person who is in need of help. We forget we have the power to change our lives based on our actions and thoughts, we think in many different ways to help us succeed throughout our time. Setting in place we have the hierarchy of needs, starting off in self actualization, self esteem, love and belonging, safety/security, and the last one physiological needs. These should all be met by adulthood or even into childhood, Abram Maslow’s has explained these needs should be met. As well as Carl Roger, a well named psychologist who has written and emphasized “that the “good life” is a process of growth and self-discovery, not a fixed destination, aligning with the idea of moving towards self-actualization.”

Throughout this essay and elaborating on the most important parts of psychology explained that the key focus is sometimes needing help, that it’s not the worst scenario either. To summarize this point of view that psychology has made an impact on today’s world that we live and breathe today.
